As everyone probably already knows, we decided several weeks ago to do a District-wide Fundraiser for Western Kentucky Tornado Relief. The Board approved this activity at our December Board Meeting.
When flooding devastated our community last spring, the outpouring of support we received as a school district and this entire community was unbelievable! Now it is our time to “Pay it Forward”!
Our original thought was to wrap this project up by February 14, but due to bad weather we have had to extend the deadline until February 28th.
Each of our schools are doing fundraising events and using this as an opportunity to discuss the importance of caring about others and giving with a cheerful HEART.
The Giving Train Project focuses on cash donations, because the need now for families is monetary and not material items. The influx of donated items was so great immediately after the tornado, so these communities have issues with providing storage for further donations. Families need cash assistance to meet their basic needs. This is why we have chosen to work with our FRYSC partners to make it happen.
Starting Monday, I am challenging our Staff and School Community to make a cash donation to assist these families, so they can provide for their basic needs and try to return to some sense of normalcy.
Here is the challenge: Our goal is to collect at least $5000! Checks should be made out to the Giving Train.
Each of your supervisors will be sending out an email telling you where to make the donation. We will collect these donations until Wednesday, February 23rd.
With the fundraising activities at each or our schools and this employee drive, our GOAL for this Campaign is $10,000.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Let’s all be thankful for the many blessings we have in our lives.
